Things to Do in San Diego
San Diego could be called a melting pot of diversity in the “things to do” category. Our city offers a plethora of exotic foods ranging from ethnic to culinary delights all wrapped up and delivered in a salty and sun drenched atmosphere of deliriously awesome weather. These adventures can especially found on Coast Hwy 101 where, a tall Latte at The Pannikin can be easily followed up by a French delicacy in one of the delightful little cafes that cater not only to the bicycylists but also to us humble pedestrians who manage to dodge these tanned and toned young people, that as it turns out, are wearing pretty darn good masks of really old men.
Since I am a proclaimed North Countier, and the grass is always greener on the other side, I love to catch myself exploring Balboa Park on one of those misty mornings where the organ is singing sweetly, and the smells of bagels and coffee are exuding from El Prado. When the whole day is stretched out to be taken like a sweet rose in bloom, and just ripe for picking. When the botanical gardens wear their showiest finery in the spring, and the fortune tellers are selling their wisdom. And when the day is done, even though traffic is looming, the suggestion of a margarita at Coronado Island is too compelling to start even thinking about heading north.
Over cocktails, and mesmerized by the soft lapping of the quiet waves , there are few words spoken as the brilliant orange sunset begins its debut , while, even though no living San Diegan has ever really experienced this great phenomena, all eyes earnestly remain on the eternal promise of The Green Flash.
Meanwhile looming high above our fair city, the weary older buildings of the San Diego skyline holds the hand of the restless and colorful newly constructed buildings with the passion and tenderness of a precious sibling.
It’s a tough act to follow…………
